		<description>I'd suggest installing Akismet if you haven't already.  I don't think it's ever let a spam comment come through, and it lets you delete them en masse without touching the legitimate comments.</description>

		<description>wow.  if you google each the permalink from each post that had comments, and then select the cached version, you'll be able to recover the majority of the comments.  i'm not sure when google will refresh its cache, so time is of some essence.  maybe i'll get around to it at work tomorrow if things are slow.</description>
